Lakeside Eco Lodge with Luxury Yurt Glamping on the Wild Atlantic Way, Donegal, Ireland

As seen on Channel 4's 'Extraordinary Escapes'

~Open All Year~

For every well-known tourist hot-spot there are a small handful of alternative accommodation providers, slightly off the beaten track, offering something that little bit different...

Sleep under the stars and in the morning soak up the unparalleled tranquillity looking out across the untouched bogland and lake setting. With 90 acres of land the Yurts are all very well spaced to ensure a complete sense of seclusion and privacy allowing for uninterrupted views. Fully-insulated and luxuriously furnished each has a superking bed plus extra single beds for families, heavy tog duvets, crisp white linen, sheepskins and Donegal woollen blankets.

Providing a true disconnect from the white noise of modern life the Yurts are off-grid, lit by lantern and candlelight adding to the sense of otherworldliness.  With your warm stove burning lie in bed staring up at the stars through your clear sky dome.

The Lodge is the communal building providing all the facilities for glamping guests including a large self-catering kitchen. Its striking central lounge, the Reciprocal Room, with its exposed beams spiralling overhead is a comfortable spot to kick back and soak up the panoramic views of the sweeping landscape. Chat with fellow travellers or cosy-up with a hot cup of tea and a good book in front of the giant fireplace.

In keeping with our sustainability ethos the Lodge is a unique eco building constructed with strawbales and cob, with a 'living' grass roof. Built using all-natural materials it was designed to be a social and amenity hub with minimal impact on the environment. Infused with a natural energy you will feel your shoulders drop on entering.

A stay in our cosy Shepherd's Hut is the most romantic of getaways. They were traditionally used by shepherds to watch over their flock at night but you can sleep at ease here, no sheep...though there may be a deer or two. The Shepherd's Hut is simply but luxuriously furnished with a beautiful lake and woodland view. Its comfy kingsize bed has crisp white linen and a handwoven Donegal tweed blanket. Its wood-burning stove makes it all the more snug.

Sit out on the veranda with a glass of wine, soak up the views and listen to the background hum of wildlife.

Surrounded by an unspoilt bogland landscape and a habitat for protected and declining species of wildlife we designed the Lodge from the ground up to exist in harmony with the natural environment and with sustainability a driving principle. The policies in place here, eg. compost toilets, off-grid accommodation, low-waste, no single-use plastics, etc. all help keep us aligned to this and in doing so we have been eco certified

We also hope to provide a glamping experience for all the family that offers a complete re-set, a getting back to basics - sitting around the campfire getting primal with a stick and after dark when the stars come out trying to remember those constellations.

Falling asleep to the sound of the 'drumming' Snipe and waking up to the sound of the Cuckoo. This is your opportunity to drop down a few gears and re-connect with the simple things.

We are located at the southern gateway into Donegal. Just a short 15 minute drive you are on the epic Donegal coastline with sea views and some of Ireland's most beautiful sandy beaches. There is plenty to see and do including St. John's Point, Maghera, Muckross Head, Glenveagh National Park, Sliabh League & a bimble around Donegal Town. Finishing off at the local pub for a potential Trad session and some great pub grub.

For adventure enthusiasts we have some of the North West’s most spectacular spots on the doorstep for surfing, SUP,  scuba-diving and snorkelling, rock-climbing and beach horse-riding - all of which can be booked through us
